Volunteers

La Costa Youth Organization (LCYO) is legally mandated to ensure that all volunteers age 18 and older complete specific requirements before participating in league activities.

In accordance with California Youth Protection Law (AB-506):

1. Live Scan Background Check
   • Volunteers must complete a fingerprint-based Live Scan background check through LCYO.
   • This is a one-time requirement unless a volunteer leaves the league for more than one year, in which case a new Live Scan is required.
2. Mandated Reporter Training
   • All volunteers must complete the online Mandated Reporter Training course.
3. LCYO Child Protection Policy
   • All volunteers are required to read and acknowledge LCYO’s Child Protection Policy prior to engaging in any league activities which can be done when registering to volunteer. All volunteers that are on the field with the players MUST be registered!

These requirements are in place to protect the safety and well-being of all youth participants in LCYO programs.
