14U Division
Note for Spring 2024: There will be a waitlist to start off the registration, once we have enough players registered to create a team, all registrants will be moved off the waitlist on a first come, first serve basis. If your daughter wants to play 14U have her grab some friends and lets make a team.
Our 14U Division is our smallest division and most competitive. We will inter-league with other leagues (Carlsbad, San Dieguito, Del Mar, Oceanside, Vista) and travel once a week to those competing leagues. Unlike our lower Divisions, 14U does not have minimum requirements for playing time, positions, etc. Games are played via strict USA Rules and playing time is at the discretion of the Coach/Manager.
14U Division age is determined by the age of the child as of August 31st for Spring Season.
Spring Season:
- Practice begins the end of January with a weekday and Saturday practice per week.
- Games begin on or around Opening day which is the end of February and continue through end of April. Each team will practice on one and one game on Saturday. Times and weekdays will vary.
- Practices and games will be played at Stagecoach Community Park and La Costa Heights Elementary.
Forming Teams:
Evaluation Day traditionally occurs the first Saturday in January.
The girls will be assessed on their hitting, fielding, base running, and pitching (if applicable.) This evaluation helps ensure evenly skilled teams that are equally competitive. Team parity is our goal and can only be achieved if we have 100% attendance on evaluation day.
Pitching evaluations will be held at the conclusion of position evaluations for ALL possible pitchers. Any player who plans to pitch more than 5 innings during the season MUST be evaluated on evaluation day so that teams can be created with an equal amount of pitching on each.
After evaluations are completed a draft will be held & players will be placed on team rosters. Parents will be contacted by their respective coach.
Please bring your glove, bat and helmet (helmets must have a face mask); softball or soccer cleats are recommended. Long hair is recommended to be tied back and softball pants or athletic clothing worn. Bats and helmets will be available to borrow during evaluations.
LCYO looks forward to helping your daughter learn and enjoy the great game of softball. LCYO has become a nationally known softball organization.
Please contact the 14U Division Director if you have any additional questions.
