Softball Jr Umpires

LCYO has a unique Jr. Umpire Program for girls who are 11-16 years old and want to learn the game from an advanced perspective. This group is typically made up of players that have advanced skills in their experience and have shown leadership capabilities within a team.

• Jr. Umpires are trained and mentored in the art of making calls behind the plate and in the field.
• They learn how to manage the game from an unbiased perspective providing an enjoyable contest for the fans and teams.
• They are supported and mentored just like the players by the league coaches and managers during moments of "clarification" on rulings that are made.
• They become better, more aware players at this age and grow into strong and confident ladies within this program.

Schedule & Requirements:

Jr. Umpires are used for 8U and 10U Softball games in the Spring season. They are scheduled weeknight and on Saturdays in coordination with the games. This is a privileged and highly sought after job position within our league.

• Girls must be 11-18 years old
• Play or have played with LCYO with advanced skills
• Complete the training program successfully
• Have a parent or adult representative present during each game on their behalf
• Have flexible availability
• Must be reliable
