JUNIOR UMPIRE PROGRAM FOR SPRING 2007
Our Spring season for umpiring will formally begin at the end of February, 2007 and will continue on to the finals in mid-June. Of course, before we can take the field and work a Mustang game effectively, we need to prepare ourselves mentally. This includes getting together to discuss rules, situations that have occurred in the past that we need to clarify, and to understand what the Junior Umpire’s role is as part of the Mustang game of baseball. There will be different requirements in order to be eligible for umpiring this Spring based upon whether you are a returning umpire or a new umpire.
Eligibility-Anyone born before 5/1/95, typically second year Bronco players and older qualify.
Returning Umpire. Must attend the General meeting near the end of January to register for the season, attend an on-field clinic or work a scrimmage, final pre-season meeting in February , and attend a minimum of 1 additional meeting.
Returning Umpire, High School Student. Must attend the General meeting in January to register for the season, final pre-season meeting in February , and work a scrimmage game or clinic before the season officially starts.
New Umpire. Must attend the General meeting in January to register for the season, clinic in January, final pre-season meeting in February, attend 2 additional meetings, and work a scrimmage game before the season officially starts.
