SPRING 2006
WELCOME to the 2006 Spring Softball Season!! The LCYO Girls Division I has enjoyed tremendous successes the past few seasons, and we look forward to further successes this season. This division is oriented to nine and ten year old girls (born in 1995 & 1996) who are interested in recreational softball, team participation and spirit, and having lots of fun!!!
The 2006 Spring Softball season will begin with evaluations on January 7th, 2006, at La Costa Heights Elementary School. Evaluation times will be listed on the website. Players will be evaluated on fielding, hitting, base running, throwing, and pitching. Attendance is mandatory. As with every level in LCYO, team parody is our goal and can only be achieved if we have 100% attendance on evaluation day.
Pitching evaluations will be held at the conclusion of position evaluations for ALL possible pitchers. Any player who plans to pitch more than 10 innings during the season MUST be evaluated on evaluation day so that teams can be created with an equal amount of pitching on each.
After evaluations are completed, players will be placed on team rosters, and parents will be contacted by their respective coach.

Practice and games will be held at South Carlsbad facilities. Each team plays two games per week, normally one weekday game and one Saturday game. Games are played from early March through late May, with playoff games occurring for each team at the end of the season. Our division will benefit from the addition of neutral umpires this year as well.
In the spirit of improved competition and skill development, the Division I girls have adopted ASA (American Softball Association) rules for this season. Girls will receive instruction on pitching, base stealing, bunting, and other finesse aspects of softball. Adoption of these rules not only places our girls in parity with other softball programs, it makes for more interesting (and competitive) softball!!!
