LCYO Division I 2006 Spring/Fall Rules

Division 1 Playoff Rules here

ASA rules will apply with the following exceptions:

1)      Round robin batting – all players will bat in assigned order. If a player must leave before the end of the game, her spot in the order will be skipped with no out recorded. If a player arrives late to a game and her pre-assigned spot has already batted, she will be placed at the end of the batting order.

2)   All teams must use a tenth player as a fourth outfielder. Left, Left Center, Right Center, Right. The tenth player may not act as a rover behind second base. These positions are outfield positions in your rotations and all girls must still play an infield position in one of the first 4 innings.  The outfielder is prohibited from taking the throw down on a steal attempt.

3)      Pitchers will pitch to all batters each inning. Walks and hit-by-pitch rules will apply with the only two exceptions if the bases are loaded.  Ball Four: If a pitcher issues four balls to a batter with the bases loaded, the coach or assigned representative of the offensive team will enter the game to pitch to the batter assuming the strike count when ball four was issued. If the batter has 2 strikes, the coach will be allowed one pitch, if the batter has one strike- two pitches, no strikes-3 pitches. If the batter fouls off the last pitch from the coach, she is awarded an additional pitch. Hit-by-pitch: If a pitched ball strikes a batter with the bases loaded, she has two options – take her base, driving in a run or getting 3 fresh pitches (regardless of count) from the coach.

4)      A complete game will be six innings. No new inning shall begin after one hour and thirty minutes. If a game is scheduled after the game in progress, game must end no less than ten minutes prior to the start of the next game. No exceptions please.

5)      Bunting and Stealing are allowed.  No bunting on the coach pitch.  Runners on first or second base can steal only one base per batter. A runner in sole possession of an illegally stolen base shall be returned to the correct base without penalty, when the ball becomes dead.

6)      The play becomes dead only when a player has controlled the ball within the pitcher circle, or if the ball rolls or is thrown into dead ball territory. A runner will be allowed to advance only to the base they are going to when the ball is in the circle, however they are at risk until the umpire calls time. A runner will be awarded an extra base when the ball is thrown into dead ball territory. Runners that advance past the correct base must return to the correct base when time is called.

7)      Pitchers may pitch a maximum of 2 innings in the first 4-innings of a game, 3 innings in a 5-inning game, and 4 innings in a 6-inning game. One pitch is considered an inning. A pitcher cannot re-enter an inning in which she as already pitched.

8)      A maximum of five runs per inning may be scored by each team

9)      Participation:

B)     A player may not sit out two consecutive innings
