Tournament Team Selection

 

TOURNAMENT TEAM MANAGER Selection Criteria

1)      The manager has consistently demonstrated good sportsmanship in LCYO.

2)      Previous tournament team coaching experience is recommended.

3)      The manager must be a current manager or coach for LCYO girl’s softball.

4)      Acknowledges that ASA provides a VIP education program for coaches.

 

MANAGER SELECTION:  Managers who are interested in being selected as the Tournament Team manager will be given 3 minutes to give their reasons why they should be selected.  There will be a brief discussion on the candidates before a blind ballot is taken.  The manager with the majority of the votes will be selected.  The Division Director, if not a manager, will count votes and vote in case of a tie.  If the Division Director is also a manager, then the Softball Director will count votes and break ties.

 

SELECTION OF TOURNAMENT TEAM PLAYERS   Each manager will be given 5 minutes to present the players from their team that will be considered for the Tournament Team.  Any number of nominations are allowed per team.  Some may have four, while another may have one.  Each nominee MUST be pre-screened by their manager.  After each manager’s presentation, the managers can comment or ask questions on the nominees.  If a manager would like to nominate a player from another team, that would be acceptable.  A blind ballot is taken with each manager voting for eight (8) players.  The top eight players will automatically be on the team.  If a tie exists for the 8th slot, the manager has the option of choosing just one of the players.   The Tournament Team manager can add up to 5 players to fill the roster.  The manager has 7 days from the meeting date to select those players. There will be an open discussion on the proposed players.  No player is to be announced or, practice to be held, until May 1st per ASA rules.  

 

SELECTION OF COACHES   The Tournament Team manager will select two coaches.

 

ADDING/REMOVING OF A PLAYER   The Tournament Team manager must obtain approval from the Division Director and the Director of Softball to add or remove a player after the selection meeting.

 

LCYO Code of Conduct and the Southern California ASA Code of Conduct will be strictly enforced during all tournaments.
