Tournament Team Pre-Screening

Before you nominate a player to the tournament team you must make sure that their parents know what their player is getting into.  They need to know and accept the following:

They must commit to

®   2 – 3 practices per week during the month of May, that’s in addition to their regular team games.  LCYO does not want tournament teams to interfere with rec. teams in any way.

®      Tournaments begin  May 20^th  and extend through the month of June.  Friday’s thru Sundays.

®      As well as 2 practices on the weekdays. (The rec. season will be over)

®      Tournaments could possibly extend the season into July and even into August! (State’s and National’s)

®   Approximately $225 - $275 in various fees and costs.  More for out of town games, much more to out of state tournaments.

They need to understand that

®   Not all nominated players will be selected

®      It is NOT a recreational team.  There will be NO guarantee of equal field time, or of any particular infield or outfield position, or of number of at-bats.

®      It is not required that each team have a representative on the tournament team.

Talk to parents FIRST!  Many players are willing to make the extensive commitment to a tournament team; some parents can not or will not.  It is a parent’s decision, not a child’s.

No Tournament Team players can be announced before May 1^st (ASA rules)
